Create your web log

Sign in to your Blogger beta account. Several samples have been set up for you and the session leader or your tutor will advise you of the log-in details.

If you don't have access to a prepared web log then you can quickly set one up for yourself but do use the new beta version. This has many new features and is quicker loading and easier to refine to suit your needs. If you don't have a Google account then it is possible to use another e-mail address now, not just gmail.

Click on +New Post. Type in a suitable heading. (Refer to the panel below for suggestions for the text files provided) Enter some text in the main area, either your own or you can paste from the samples. Using Ctr+A to select all text in a file, Ctr+C to copy and Ctr+V to paste is an old but efficient method and may be necessary as some browsers may not allow operation of a right click menu. Leave the fonts as colours as default settings for now.

Click on Publish. Your first entry are now available for all to see! Repeat the process for a few more.

Add some images

In some of the prepared text samples you will see references to [images]. These should also be provided or can be obtained from the panel below. For a new post you can click on the Insert Image icon, browse and upload a picture. To add one to a published post you can Edit the post using the Manage post link on your Dashboard, as described in the further development section.

You can also use Picasa. This is the ideal route for images that you have not edited or made suitable for publishing on the web. See the Images section for notes on this route.

View your web log

If you haven't already, click on View Blog to see what the world can see. You may well want to make changes but a few simple posts will be sufficient for this stage. However, if you really want to make changes now, go to the further development sections!
