| If you use Office 2000 or later versions you’ll
have a couple of features that you’ll either love or hate.
This note is for the latter group, which includes myself and most
of the people I’ve taught over the last few years.
Menus that only show you the things Microsoft think you might want
to use. You know the things – instead of a nice list you can
choose what you want from you get a list of what you’ve used
recently. Now that’s fine if you know exactly which menu what
you want is on and are happy to either click the expand chevron
at the bottom or wait a while until it decides to expand itself.
It isn’t so fine if you have to search through a pile of them.
Just fix it using Tools | Customise and check the box that says
"Always Show Full
Menus".
While you're there, check the box that says "Show Standard
and Formatting Toolbars on two rows" so you can see all the
Toolbar icons you paid for!
Goodness knows what Office 2uh-oh3 has in store for us. It may
well be a cue to download Openoffice.org!!
