Advanced: data management |
| |
|
| Grosvenor House |
I have tried to make this exercise as near to a real IBTII assignment
as I can. There are five tasks, each linked to a theme concerning
something really boring (just like an IBTII assignment!!). As well
as the instructions,
you'll need the data,
draft text and amendments
to draft text. Download these three items as well. |
| Formation
mail merge |
Again, a good practical task that requires more skill than an IBTII
course should strictly deliver. Quite challenging but good experience
of a fairly typical office task. You will also need the Formation customer
addresses data
file. |
| Staff
pay increases |
Another mail merge task which requires you to organise some data and
do some calculations first. Very relevant to the 'real' world. You
will need the staffdata
file. Here is a sample answer
too, if you need one! |
| The tea
club |
This can be a good test of your skills in working with data and presenting
it well. With no helplines you need to complete a mini income and
expenditure sheet then do a bit of awkward sorting and create some
graphs. |
| Collectors cars |
A large database
needs some smart searching and sorting tasks and then the results
displayed in a clear and useful manner. |
| Football league tables |
The basic spreadsheet construction is fairly straightforward.
Your task is to use advanced techniques to produce a correctly sorted
table at a click of a button once results are in. There are no instructions
yet for other than the setting-up task so you'll need to ask your
tutor for some help in the meantime. |
| Survey forms |
If you've ever had to record survey results these
notes may help to ensure you set up the data collection properly |
